A Very Fit Christmas
Looking for some ways to enjoy holiday treats without the guilt and calorie impact? Protein hot chocolate is a great way to hit your protein goals and the protein balls are a great dessert to have on hand for a snack, to take to holiday gatherings, or to give away to friends and family as a sweet treat.
Protein Hot Chocolate (adapted from Jordo’s World)
1 scoop chocolate protein powder ** We like 1st Phorm’s Chocolate Milkshake or Peppermint Bark Protein Powder
1 tbsp cocoa powder
1 cup cold or room temperature milk (dairy, almond, or oat milk all work great)
1 tbsp sugar free maple syrup ** Walden Farms is a good option.
Directions
Add all ingredients to a shaker bottle.
Shake well until everything is combined. (This is step is critical! The protein powder must be mixed with either cold or room temperature milk BEFORE heating up the mixture.)
Pour the mixture into a small sauce pan.
Turn on low heat. Use a whisk to stir the mixture while it is heating up. Don’t let it boil!
Continue whisking until the mixture is creamy and at desired temperature.
Taste and add additional sweetener if you need.
Pour into a mug and add desired toppings (whipped cream, etc.)
Enjoy!
You can also add protein powder to Nestle, or other pre-made hot chocolate mixes. Simply add a scoop of your favorite protein powder to your favorite cocoa mix, combine in a shaker bottle with cold or room temperature milk and add hot water.
