Sample Workouts to Boost Metabolism

One of the best ways to boost your metabolism is by adding muscle. Adding just 5lbs of muscle can prevent 3-4 pounds of fat gain per year. That’s 30-40lbs per decade! One of the best ways to do this is to perform a well-constructed strength training plan 2-4 times per week. If you pair this with eating enough (ideally 1800 calories and 100g of protein per day), you will be well on your way to adding metabolically-active muscle tissue to your frame.

What equipment do I need?

If you aren’t a gym member, you can get a great workout from home. We have a detailed blog post that discusses what to prioritize when you are trying to build your home gym.

If you are more advanced, you can incorporate dumbbells, barbells, and various cables/machines into your strength training plan as well. But don’t let perfect be the enemy of good. Just pick a workout and get started and you will be well on your way to building muscle.

Even if your goal is weight loss, you would be much better served focusing on gaining 5lbs of muscle first.  This article should be enough to get you started, but if you want more guidance in the process, see how you can work with us below.
